Kanpai- Japanese for “cheers”. A simple word that means so much more to us. It means celebration. It means family and togetherness. It means sharing life with the people you love. We chose this word to represent our winery as a reminder of home, to honor our friends our family, and our heritage.
OUR WINES
We craft wines that are meant to be shared with loved ones and paired with food. Balanced, food-friendly, and age-worthy, our wines reflect Steve Matthiasson’s signature style.
Renowned for his classically balanced wines and sustainable farming techniques, Steve brings a dedication to craft and artisanship to all of Kanpai’s wines. Steve’s relationship with Meadowbrook Farm vineyard stretches back over a decade to his early days as a farmer.
In winemaking, farming, or even in life, we’re always searching for balance.

OUR STORY
A family with a shared passion for artistry, food, and hospitality. A chance meeting with a fabled winemaker. Driven by a twist of fate, learn how we started Kanpai Wines.
A piece of Napa Valley history, Meadowbrook Farm vineyard has been providing premium cabernet sauvignon to legendary wineries for over 30 years. We’re proud to call Meadowbrook Farm our estate vineyard and home.
You can now find our wines at the Vintner’s Collective, downtown Napa’s oldest multi-winery tasting room. Since its construction in 1875, this historic building has housed a brothel, a saloon, a chick hatchery, and a Chinese laundromat.
